- Solubility: readily soluble in water. Add to the water phase and stir until completely dissolved.

- Recommended usage rate: 1–10% for moisturizing products; higher concentrations are used for intensive care of dry, rough, or thickened skin.
- Incorporation: best added during the cooling phase when the formulation is not excessively hot to help maintain ingredient quality.
- pH range: formulations are generally recommended within a pH range of 5–7. Extremely acidic or alkaline conditions may reduce stability.
- Key difference: compared to D-panthenol and propylene glycol, this ingredient is particularly effective for softening dry, rough, and thickened skin.
- Note: higher concentrations may cause a tingling sensation on sensitive or damaged skin, so compatibility testing is recommended.
