  • Ideal for hair and skin care products.

Glycerin is a natural trihydric alcohol. Easily mixes with water and ethanol in any ratio. As a moisturizer, it is included in many cosmetic products and has been used for centuries. It is highly hygroscopic and therefore is used only in diluted form (in particular, for hand skin care).

Main characteristics of glycerin:

  • Hydration and Moisturizing: Is an excellent humectant, helping to retain moisture in the skin and hair.
  • Emollient Properties: Due to its emollient nature, effectively softens and improves skin texture.
  • Antioxidant Properties: Helps fight oxidative stress, preventing premature skin aging.

Usage: Add glycerin (up to 1-2 teaspoons per kg of soap base) and mix  thoroughly into the melted soap base.

Glycerin is an essential ingredient in soap crafting, offering numerous benefits:

  • Moisturizing: Glycerin is a natural humectant, which means it attracts moisture from the air into the skin. This helps to keep the skin hydrated and prevents it from becoming dry or flaky. Soaps with glycerin are known for their ability to leave the skin feeling soft and smooth.
  • Gentle on Skin: Its gentle nature makes it ideal for sensitive skin, as it helps to soothe and soften without causing irritation. This makes glycerin soap suitable for people with conditions like eczema or psoriasis.
  • Transparency and Clarity: High-purity glycerin contributes to creating translucent or clear soaps, which are not only visually appealing but also feel luxurious. It enhances the aesthetic appeal of handcrafted soaps, allowing for creative designs with added botanicals or colors.
  • Improves Lather: Glycerin helps to boost the lathering effect in soap, resulting in a rich, creamy foam that enhances the cleansing experience. It allows the soap to glide smoothly over the skin, improving the overall feel of the soap.
  • Skin Protection: By forming a protective barrier on the skin, glycerin locks in moisture and shields the skin from environmental factors, reducing the risk of dryness and irritation after washing.

Overall, using glycerin in soap crafting elevates the quality of the soap, making it more nourishing, skin-friendly, and aesthetically pleasing.
