Gel wax is a type of candle material that has a transparent and jelly-like appearance. It is made from mineral oil and polymer resin, and it can hold more fragrance oil than other types of wax. Glass for gel candles
The glass must have thick walls and must not get narrower towards the top. Do not use damaged glasses! Glasses with a big diameter impair the burning quality (max 7 cm).
Melting the candle gel
Always heat candle gel indirectly in a bain-marie to 80-90 °C. Use a melting pot for this. Water droplets in the candle gel will cause cloudiness.
Instructions
First pour liquid candle gel into the glass to a depth of about 1 cm. Place the wick in the centre, align it so that it is vertical and secure it between two elastic bands. Allow the gel to cool. Put the incombustible decorative elements in place. Fill up the glass with candle gel. To prevent air bubbles, pre-warm the glass with hot water, heat up the gel sufficiently and pour it in slowly.
To position decorative elements so that they float, pour in the gel in layers. Allow the gel to cool, put the object in place and pour in the next layer of candle gel.
Burning gel candles
Gel candles have a smaller flame than conventional candles and burn for considerably longer.
