Recipe: Gentle Facial Scrub
Skin care starts with simple yet well-considered steps. One of them is gentle but effective cleansing, which allows the skin to breathe and to absorb care products better. Instead of choosing a scrub with synthetic additives, you can easily make your own face scrub at home using only a few natural ingredients.
Coconut and avocado oil, sea salt and a few drops of suitable essential oils come together in a simple recipe that pampers the skin while at the same time giving you a short moment of relaxation.
Gentle face scrub (for a 100 ml jar)
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- 2 tablespoons avocado oil
- 3 tablespoons fine sea salt
- 10 drops vitamin E (in liquid form)
- 16–24 drops essential oil of your choice
Essential oil options:
Lavender – soothes the skin, has an anti-inflammatory effect
Rose – suitable for dry, mature skin
Tea tree – works well for problematic, oily or acne-prone skin
Preparation
- Pour the fine sea salt into a bowl.
- Add the coconut oil and avocado oil. Stir slowly until a smooth mixture forms.
- Add the vitamin E and stir again.
- Add the chosen essential oil (start with 16 drops and, if you want a stronger scent, increase to 24 drops). Mix thoroughly.
- Transfer the scrub into a clean, dry 100 ml jar with a lid.
How to use the face scrub...
- Clean your face from makeup and impurities.
- Apply a small amount of scrub to slightly damp skin.
- Gently massage the face with circular motions for 1–2 minutes, avoiding the eye area.
- Rinse with warm water and dry your face with a towel, patting rather than rubbing.
- Then apply a light face cream or oil.
- Use 1–2 times a week, depending on your skin sensitivity.
A homemade face scrub is a great way to gently cleanse the skin while at the same time reducing the amount of chemicals in your daily skin-care routine.
Moreover, you can easily adjust the recipe to your needs – by choosing the most suitable essential oil, you can soothe, refresh or balance your skin. It only takes a few minutes to prepare, and you will already have a gentle, natural scrub in your bathroom that you will want to return to again and again!
