After-Sun Lavender Lotion – Soothing DIY Recipe
After a day in the sun, your skin benefits from gentle and refreshing care. A homemade after-sun lotion is a simple way to combine several useful cosmetic ingredients into one light body care product.
This recipe combines lavender floral water with aloe vera, glycerin, D-panthenol and a few drops of jojoba oil. The result is a light lotion that feels pleasant on the skin after sun exposure.
Ingredients
- 55 ml lavender floral water
- 25 g aloe vera
- 8 drops glycerin
- 5 g D-panthenol
- 6 drops jojoba oil
Preparation
- Prepare a clean bottle or another suitable cosmetic container.
- Pour in the lavender floral water.
- Add the aloe vera, glycerin and D-panthenol.
- Add the jojoba oil.
- Close the bottle and shake thoroughly to combine the ingredients as evenly as possible.
Because this recipe contains both water-based ingredients and a small amount of oil without an emulsifier, the mixture may naturally separate while standing. This is normal. Shake the bottle well before each use.
How to Use After-Sun Lotion
After sun exposure, apply a small amount of lotion to clean body skin and gently spread it over the area. Pay particular attention to areas that have received more sun, such as the shoulders, arms and legs.
This lotion is intended for body care after sun exposure. Do not apply it to damaged or severely sunburned skin.
Why Use These Ingredients?
Lavender floral water gives the product a light lavender aroma and works as a pleasant water-phase ingredient in skincare formulations.
Aloe vera is a popular ingredient in skincare products designed for use after sun exposure.
Glycerin is a humectant widely used in creams, lotions and other skincare products to help attract moisture.
D-panthenol is a popular ingredient in moisturizing and skin-conditioning cosmetic products.
Jojoba oil adds a light oil phase to the recipe and helps leave the skin feeling soft and comfortable.
Storage
Store the finished lotion in the refrigerator and use it within approximately 10 days. Shake well before each use.
Because this is a water-containing DIY recipe without a complete preservation system, prepare only a small amount at a time and always use clean tools and packaging. If the smell, colour or consistency changes, stop using the product.
With just a few cosmetic ingredients and a couple of minutes of preparation, you can make a refreshing lavender after-sun lotion for your summer skincare routine.
